Mode Preference UI filters on the PTV website and App
The introduction of Mode Preference UI filters on the PTV website and app marks a significant enhancement for users seeking tailored transportation information. These filters empower users to customize their experience by selecting preferred modes of transport, enabling a more personalized journey planning process. Whether users prefer trains, trams, buses, or a combination, the Mode Preference UI filters streamline the presentation of information, offering a user-centric approach to navigating the diverse public transport options. This feature not only improves the efficiency of journey planning but also contributes to a more user-friendly and personalized interaction with the PTV platform.
Acknowledging the negative feedback received about the current mode filter, we were committed to ensuring that the upcoming update would effectively address all customer concerns and eliminate any sources of confusion. Our goal was not only to incorporate improvements but to deliver a solution that would resonate positively with users, providing a seamless and clear experience. This user-centric approach guided the design and implementation process, aiming to turn previous feedback into actionable insights for a more intuitive and user-friendly mode filter on the PTV
Returning to the drawing board, I generated new design concepts and iterations, confident that these adjustments would effectively address previous issues. Despite our confidence, we prioritized user validation and conducted additional user tests to ensure the efficacy of the new concepts. To facilitate this testing, I developed two interactive prototypes, providing users with a hands-on experience to gauge the improvements and gather valuable insights. This iterative and user-focused approach aimed to not only address concerns but to ensure the final solution resonated positively with the PTV platform’s users.
To refine our design decisions, we organized a design jam session involving collaboration among various designers. Additionally, an unmoderated test was conducted to gather user feedback on different options. After careful evaluation and analysis of user responses, it was decided to proceed with option A. This choice was informed by the fact that option A’s concepts and interactions were not only well-understood by users but also emerged as their preferred choice. This iterative process, combining designer collaboration and user testing, ensured that the final decision aligned closely with user preferences and comprehension.
