3D CHARACTER ANIMATION
3D Software Blender is used to create 3d environments and character animations. Rendering is also completed in Blender. Motion Graphics in AfterEffects. Graphics and linearts are created in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
3D Character Animation
SafeSmart Access Signature series needed something special to promote products. I was asked to do 3D animation. This is an industry, I always wanted to work. Very lucky to get the opportunity.
3D Character Animation, often easier to create a perfect scenario to show the superiority of the product. Ideal and not so ideal environment can be created as briefed and then animating a character as required. But as I haven’t done any animation before, I had to learn character animation from scratch and done 10+ animations now.

Considering this is a little animation film, I went back to sketch book. Prepared storyboard, describing scene, camera movement and character movement. These are the storyboards for Bridgedeck animation. AdjusaStairs storyboards are down below.
After storyboards are approved I went back to 3D software Blender to create 3D environments. After 3D environments are completed, rigging of the character was done. Then started animating our beloved little worker. Now it is render time.
RENDERING DIFFERENT SCENES
Rendering is fun. Not so much for my MAC. 60-70 hours of rendering for each animation. I was conveniently getting ready the after effect motion graphics. Our amazing Neil (Brand and Content Manager) was preparing contents. I have also created low res render for each scene and created a low res complete animation for approval before going into highres render. There were some interesting change requests after low res render was completed. Solutions were lazy and simple. I will get to those later. So lets render them out.
CHANGES
AdjustaStairs animation scenes need to be 3 different stages of construction. To define scene 02, I was requested to add some formwork. To redo the 3D environment could be very time consuming. I went into unsplash and downloaded a nice photo taken from top by Saad Salim. Removed all the people and done. Use that as a material and job done. To do better 3D, you need to be pretty lazy and smart, I guess. Result was amazing, also rendering time was lot less. So here we go. Image 01 is before and Image 02 is after.
Now it’s time for After Effects. Motion Graphics and putting all scene together. Then comes the website landing pages, EDM, Social media content and many more. It may sounds simple, but not when you have to prepare for USA, UK, Canada and NZ. Every location conveniently use different systems for similar purpose (i.e. EDM)
Landing Pages
Website landing pages prepared in Magento platform. That’s a lot of coding, which is never my favourite part of the job. To make it worse, I have to create 8 pages for different locations
EDM
Done in mailchimp for Australia. Copy the code and pasted in hubspot for Canada. Also created package for USA and UK.
