Interactive 3D App is a graphical presentation for the Building and Planning permit guidelines. Software used to design 3D house modelling and render is Blender. Other graphical elements are designed in illustrator and Photoshop.
The project starts on old school pen and paper with a schematic plan. It is fantastic way to uderstand the project and map out timeline and requirements. With the covid, there is a growing demand of alteration to add a home office. Council wanted to display an active construction on site, so I thought about a context of adding a home office construction.
It was challenging designing a 3D house, which represent all the elements related to building and planning permit, sustainability. It is always challenging get it right. However, my experience at City of Boroondara, Surf Coast Shire Council and Pyrenees Shire Council helped a lot. House was approved with minor changes. Now comes illustrator and photoshop. Simplify layout design was my goal to achieve smooth user experience and maximum emphasis on the 3D house.
Rendering time. Blender made my life easy in this stage. Rotation was smooth in one go, as I am able to rotate the camera on a circle. So I start render as like I do for an animation and prepare for the next stage.
After Surfcoast shire Council, I have gained confidence and HTML5, CSS, XML to put them all together was not scary like last time. But there are always hick ups with codes for someone who is not a developer. Something silly like a folder name starts with capital P can stuff up your entire project. :p
So we are done. Everybody loved it. It is in the middle of once in a 100 year pandemic. So I did not have the opportunity to present the house to the council. (which I really love doing)
