Capacity Indicator on the PTV Website and App
The introduction of a Capacity Indicator for the PTV website and app is a pivotal enhancement aimed at providing users with real-time information about the occupancy of public transport services. This feature empowers commuters by offering insights into the current capacity status of buses, trains, and trams. Users can make informed decisions, choosing less crowded services to ensure a more comfortable and socially distanced journey. The Capacity Indicator aligns with the evolving needs of users, especially in times of heightened awareness regarding public health considerations. It not only enhances the overall user experience by promoting transparency but also contributes to a safer and more responsive public transport environment.
During this stage, the project primarily focused on UI improvements. Drawing inspiration from internal designers through design jam sessions, I formulated several concepts to be tested with Victorian public transport users. This collaborative approach, involving internal ideation and subsequent user testing, aimed to ensure that the UI enhancements not only aligned with the creative input of the design team but also resonated positively with the end-users, contributing to an improved and user-friendly PTV platform.
